For those on the hunt for a new type of snack, The Good Bean may just have simplified the search.
The Berkley, Calif.-based company, known for its legume-based products, is launching a new line of confections — chocolate-covered chickpeas.
Available in dark chocolate, milk chocolate and mocha chocolate varieties, the snack contains chickpeas that have been lightly roasted and are crunchy, as well as have a crispy candy shell, the company said.
“I am truly excited about diving into the confection arena with our chocolate-covered chickpeas. At The Good Bean, I believe in sourcing the best possible ingredients and living mindfully, but I also believe in decadent indulgence,” founder and CEO Sarah Wallace said. “I knew if I was going to take on the challenge of launching a chocolate chickpea confection, it couldn’t be mediocre; it needed to hold up against premium candy and confections in terms of taste, and this really does. I think people will be surprised and delighted at how incredibly delicious and unforgettable this product is."
Featuring 3 g of protein and 130 calories per serving, each chocolate-covered chickpea is made in small batches with fair trade chocolate and chickpeas that have been grown in the United States.
In addition, the product also is Non-GMO Project Verified and Certified Gluten Free.
Consumers can find The Good Bean’s chocolate-covered chickpeas on Amazon.com at the suggested retail price of $4.50 per bag. The snack will launch at additional retailers in the coming months.
