Hy-Vee is honoring veterans in several ways, including hosting special memorials and events honoring veterans, and active-duty military members.

In 1999, the Belton Hy-Vee in Missouri hosted a breakfast on Veterans Day to honor local active-duty military members and veterans. The tradition continues as Hy-Vee now celebrates the 25th anniversary of its Veterans Day Breakfast across all Hy-Vee stores. This year’s breakfast will be held on Monday, Nov. 11, along with special events across its eight-state region.

A free buffet-style breakfast will be offered to all veterans and active-duty military members from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Hy-Vee stores.

Veterans and active-duty military also will receive 15% off their grocery purchases on Monday, Nov. 11, when they shop at Hy-Vee, Dollar Fresh Market and Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh locations.

Additionally, Hy-Vee is holding its annual Hy-Vee Homefront Round Up, where the company teams up with customers to raise money to support organizations that assist veterans, active-duty military members and their families. The fundraiser goes through Nov. 17 at all Hy-Vee stores, Dollar Fresh Market and Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh stores across its eight-state region. Hy-Vee will match all customer donations up to $100,000, with all proceeds benefiting Hope for the Warriors, Operation First Response, American Red Cross and the Puppy Jake Foundation.

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the breakfast this year, Hy-Vee also will have special memorials and displays at select Hy-Vee stores across its region:

  • The Spirit of Iowa Tribute Bell Tour
The Spirit of Iowa Tribute Bell will appear at the Grimes Hy-Vee, 351 NE Gateway Drive, Grimes, Iowa, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The bell symbolizes support for military veterans and service members across Iowa and serves as a way for the community to honor and remember the service of military veterans.
  • “Remembering Our Fallen” Memorials
Remembering Our Fallen is a traveling photographic memorial that honors those in each state who lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan. This display recognizes the sacrifices of the fallen military and supports Gold Star Family Members, ensuring their legacies are forever remembered and respected. The following Remembering Our Fallen state memorials will be at select Hy-Vee stores:
    Kansas: Shawnee Hy-Vee, 13550 W. 63rd Street, Shawnee, Kan.
Missouri: Belton Hy-Vee, 1307 E. North Avenue, Belton, Mo.
    Nebraska: Papillion Hy-Vee, 11650 S. 73rd Street, Papillion, Neb.
