Louisiana takes lead in Walgreens’ Flu Index

Just in time for National Influenza Week, Walgreens is releasing the November report of its flu index.

Topping the list for the penultimate month of 2019 is Louisiana with the most instances of flu and Nevada following closely behind.

Top 10 DMAs with flu activity for November:

  1. Lafayette, La.
  2. Alexandria, La.
  3. Biloxi-Gulfport, Miss.
  4. Las Vegas, Nev.
  5. Waco-Temple-Bryan, Texas
  6. New Orleans, La.
  7. Dothan, Ala.
  8. Baton Rouge, La.
  9. Tyler-Longview (Lufkin & Nacogdoches), Texas
  10. Victoria, Texas

Top 10 states with flu activity for November:

  1. Louisiana
  2. Nevada
  3. Texas
  4. Mississippi
  5. New Mexico
  6. Tennessee
  7. Alabama
  8. Nebraska
  9. Florida
  10. Arkansas

A change from the previous year which saw Texas accounting for the most activity in November of the last season, the company said.

Launched six seasons ago, the Walgreens Flu Index is an online and interactive tool that views flu activity across markets and states in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
