    NEW YORK — L’Oréal Paris has combined its cosmetics and skin care expertise into one innovative formula with Visible Lift Smooth Absolute instant age-reversing foundation.


    The SPF 17 formula is infused with an anti-aging complex, hydra-collagen, which also contains Pro-Retinol A, elastic, collagen and vitamin E. The prestige-inspired, click-through brush sweeps the formula evenly onto skin, providing controllable coverage and a weightless finish.


  • Sagent gets OK for antibacterial drug

    SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — Sagent has received approval from the Food and Drug Administration for its antibacterial drug.

    The drug maker said that the FDA approved polymyxin B for injection USP. Sagent said that polymyxin B sulfate is used to treat infections of the urinary tract, meninges and bloodstream caused by susceptible strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

    The drug was developed in partnership with Strides Arcolab. Under the collaboration, Strides develops and supplies injectable products that Sagent will market in the United States.

  • Hairstyling products shaping up in sales

    CHICAGO — Whether it’s soft, sexy waves, an elegant updo or frizz-free straight locks, hair is a woman’s greatest accessory, and many of the hottest looks are hard to achieve without the help of styling aids.


    According to data provided by SymphonyIRI Group, a Chicago-based market research firm, sales of hairspray totaled $416.5 million, up 0.52%, at food, drug and mass (excluding Walmart) for the 52 weeks ended May 15. Sales of hairstyling gel and mousse rose 1.78% to $636.2 million during that same period.


  • St. Joseph Aspirin returns to store shelves with new look

    BALTIMORE — St. Joseph Aspirin has returned to store shelves with a series of product, packaging and retail enhancements, Ilex Consumer Products Group announced last month.

    The new packaging will target baby boomers on a low-dose aspirin regimen, as recommended by doctors, to help lower the risk of heart attack and stroke. The new packaging copy calls out the need for the consumer to engage in an “Aspirin Regimen.”

    SUPPLIER NEWS — Post Foods has expanded its Pebbles cereal lineup with a limited-edition flavor. New Pebbles Boulders Stone Age caramel apple now is available on store shelves nationwide. Each serving of the new cereal, which features caramel-flavored boulders and dinosaur bones, contains 110 calories and 16 g of whole grains, while providing 10 essential vitamins and minerals, Post said. Post said it will continue to introduce more limited-edition Boulders flavors throughout the year.


  • Xarelto OKed by FDA

    RARITAN, N.J. — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a drug made by Johnson & Johnson for treating deep vein thrombosis in patients undergoing knee or hip replacement surgery, a J&J subsidiary said Friday.

    Janssen Pharmaceuticals announced the approval of Xarelto (rivaroxaban) tablets as a once-daily oral anticoagulant for DVT, a condition that could lead to pulmonary embolism.

    SUPPLIER NEWS — Rockin’ Green’s laundry detergent formulas — Soft, Classic and Hard Rock — will feature a new scent and packaging. The company said it is replacing its original Plain Green Tea’s scent with a scent called Earth, Wind and Orchids. Rockin’ Green said that its Funk Rock product, which is an ammonia bouncer, will be available in a printed, 16-oz. stand-up pouch with a zipper; its Shake It Ups also will be packaged in a printed stand-up pouch, but will feature a spout instead of a zipper.


  • Crystal Light Mocktails to make debut in packaging by Landor

    NEW YORK — Crystal Light is looking to shake up the beverage category with a new line of "mocktails."

    The Crystal Light Mocktails, available in appletini, margarita and mojito flavors, pair together the flavor of summer beverages with low calories. The new Crystal Light line also touts packaging developed by Landor Associates.

    The new line will be available nationally in September in time for the Labor Day holiday.
