    GLENDALE, Calif. — Skinny Cow is introducing new sweet treats.

    The company, known for its low-fat ice cream products, has made its foray into candy with new Skinny Cow Dreamy Clusters, bite-sized treats drenched in caramel and covered in either milk chocolate or dark chocolate; and Skinny Cow Heavenly Crisp candy bars, delicate wafers layered with either chocolate or peanut butter filling and covered in a chocolate coating. Each candy contains 110 to 120 calories in each serving.

  • WheyUp introduces weight-loss beverage

    TEMPE, Ariz. — WheyUp on Wednesday announced the launch of its weight-loss beverage WheyUp, which features 20 g of protein, 1 g of carbs and 90 calories per bottle.

    “WheyUp is the first preworkout drink to market a unique protein beverage that combines whey protein with caffeine,” WheyUp president Erik Rothchild said. “WheyUp is ideal for gaining lean muscle or losing weight, depending upon how and when you drink it.”

  • MidWest introduces Garden Markers

    CHILLICOTHE, Mo. — MidWest is expanding its accessories lineup with a new way to keep gardens organized.

    New MidWest Garden Markers are 10-in. high steel wire constructions with copper marker identification panels. The markers are available in packaged sets of six markers with a black waterproof marker pencil, letting garden enthusiasts easily identify what is growing in their garden and where.

  • Zytiga OKed as prostate cancer treatment

    HORSHAM, Pa. — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a new treatment for prostate cancer made by Johnson & Johnson.

    Centocor Ortho Biotech, J&J’s biotech subsidiary, announced Thursday the approval of Zytiga (abiraterone acetate), a daily pill for use in combination with the corticosteroid prednisone for treating castration-resistant prostate cancer that has spread to other parts of the body in men who have received prior chemotherapy with Sanofi-Aventis’ Taxotere (docetaxel).

  • New app offers diabetes information with dash of humor

    SALT LAKE CITY — One of the basic functions of humor is to make people feel better about difficult situations. A group of software developers has incorporated that idea into a new app for Apple iPhones, iPods and iPads for people living with diabetes.

    The app, called “Shot in the Arm,” made by Nashsmile, delivers brief and simple diabetes management advice, as well as humor — for example, ways to handle an insulin reaction and jokes, such as “Whoever said ‘no man is an island’ has never seen my stomach in the bath tub.”

  • OCuSOFT announces availability of Ocudox Convenience Kit

    RICHMOND, Texas — A prescription-only eyelid disease treatment kit is available at retail pharmacies around the country, the kit’s manufacturer said.

    OCuSOFT announced the availability of the Ocudox Convenience Kit for immediate dispensing at such retail pharmacies as Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreens — including Duane Reade — among others.

  • Beanfields introduces new tortilla chips

    LOS ANGELES — Beanfields has introduced a new line of corn- and gluten-free tortilla chips.

    Beanfields' bean and rice chips are made with black beans, navy beans and long-grain rice. The company said the line includes four flavors: naturally unsalted, sea salt, sea salt and pepper, and pico de gallo.

    A 6-oz. bag of Beanfields chips retails from $2.99 to $3.99.
