  • Lundbeck's Onfi CIV scored tablets and oral suspension now available in U.S. pharmacies

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Lundbeck announced today that Onfi (clobazam) CIV will be available in scored tablet and oral suspension formulations beginning this week after the formulations were recently approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Onfi is a prescription medication originally approved by the FDA in 2011, and is used along with other medicines to treat seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) in adults and children 2 years of age or older. Onfi is an oral anti-epileptic drug (AED) of the benzodiazepine class, and is a 1,5 benzodiazepine.

  • FDA approves new GSK drug to treat HIV infection

    WASHINGTON — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Monday approved Tivicay (dolutegravir), a new drug to treat HIV-1 infection that is manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline.

    Tivicay is an integrase strand transfer inhibitor that interferes with one of the enzymes necessary for HIV to multiply. It is a pill taken daily in combination with other antiretroviral drugs.

  • More than a dozen health information exchanges, service providers join Surescripts

    ARLINGTON, Va. — Electronic prescribing network Surescripts has added 19 state health information exchanges and health information service providers to its network, the company said.

    These include entities in Maryland, Ohio, Colorado, Michigan, New York, Tennessee and others.

    PRINCETON, N.J. — Derma Sciences, Inc., a medical device and pharmaceutical company focused on advanced wound care, today reported that it has made an initial shipment of its first honey-based over-the-counter product to a leading U.S.-based pharmacy chain.   • Teva, Perrigo announce launch of generic temozolomide

    JERUSALEM and ALLEGAN, Mich. — Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., and Perrigo Co. today announced the launch of the generic equivalent to Temodar (temozolomide). Teva will manufacture, market and distribute the product in the United States, and both companies will equally share in the cost and profitability of the product in the country. Teva was first to file, making the product eligible for 180 days of marketing exclusivity.
