  • Walgreens enhances photo creation capabilities on mobile app

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens on Wednesday announced the latest updates to its iPhone mobile app that allows users to create photo cards with such special themes as thank you, holidays, announcements and invitations. Unique collages also can be created directly from an iPhone. Walgreens is the first retailer to provide the ability to create collage prints using a mobile device and pick them up in about an hour, the company stated. Photos for these creations easily can be uploaded from the user’s phone, Facebook or Instagram albums.

    BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Kellogg Co. brand Special K announced on Wednesday a new breakfast shake packed with vitamins and minerals, low in calories and offering the caffeine equivalent of a cup of coffee.

  • Cirrus' EarPlanes for Kids make ear plugs fun

    COLD SPRING HARBOR. N.Y. — Cirrus Healthcare Products earlier this summer launched a new licensed version of EarPlanes for Kids in conjunction with the new Disney "Planes" movie. EarPlanes are designed to be worn for air travel to reduce and prevent uncomfortable ear pressure during flight, including clogging, popping and pain.

    LOGAN, Utah — Stander has entered the kinesiology tape market with StrengthTape. Stander's product uses its trade-marked Ion Health Technology. According to the company, negatively charged ions incorporated into the tape may help increase energy.

    NEW YORK — Syneron Beauty recently introduced its Pearl Brilliant White Ionic Teeth Whitening system, which is the first new at-home teeth whitening technology to be cleared by the FDA in more than 10 years. The device uses a micro-current to active Pearl's whitening gel, allowing it to penetrate the enamel to erase years of stains without sensitivity or irritation, the company stated.

     

  • Perrigo to field store brand version of bubble gum-flavored Children's Zyrtec Allergy Syrup

    ALLEGAN, Mich. — Perrigo on Tuesday announced that it has received final approval from the Food and Drug Administration for its abbreviated new drug application for cetirizine hydrochloride oral solution USP, 1 mg/mL, bubble gum flavored, the store brand equivalent to Children's Zyrtec Allergy Syrup. Perrigo expects to begin shipments of the product during the upcoming cough/cold/flu season.

  • Prestige Brands shakes up pain relief formats with shot

    TARRYTOWN, N.Y. — Prestige Brands was one of the first over-the-counter manufacturers to utilize an "energy shot" format to deliver an active OTC ingredient in an effort to differentiate at the shelf. Goody's Headache Relief Shot will augment Goody's Headache Powder's ongoing success — sales were up 8.7% to $37.7 million for the 52 weeks ended July 14 across total U.S. multi-outlets, according to IRI data.

  • Teva launches generic version of Prevpac Kit

    NORTH WALES, Pa. — Teva Pharmaceutical Industries has introduced a generic version of an antibiotic drug kit, the company said.

    Teva, through U.S. subsidiary Teva Pharmaceuticals, announced the introduction of 30-mg lansoprazole delayed-release capsules, 500-mg amoxicillin capsules and 500-mg clarithromycin tablets. The treatment is packaged in 14 cards with eight pills, designed for 14 days of treatment.

    The treatment is a generic version of Takeda's Prevpac Kit.
