    CHICAGO — Tropicana has introduced an 89-oz. container for its flagship Tropicana Pure Premium 100% pure Florida orange juice with no added sugar, water or preservatives.

    The sleek package is the first clear-handle design in the chilled juice category that is 100% recyclable, Tropicana said. Made from lightweight PET plastic, the bottle can be recycled in curbside programs nationwide or via PepsiCo Dream Machines that are available in public locations across the country.

  • BD introduces smaller needle for highly viscous drugs

    FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. — A division of Becton, Dickinson and Co. has introduced a thin-walled needle for injecting highly viscous drug formulations.

    BD Medical announced Wednesday the introduction of the BD Hyflow needle, calling it an alternative to larger needles that could be more painful for patients receiving the highly viscous drugs that are becoming more common in drug pipelines. The Hyflow is a 27-gauge needle designed for use with BD's prefillable syringe systems that increases flow to facilitate use with auto injectors and infusers.

  • Wonder boosts wheat bread lineup

    IRVING, Texas — Wonder has introduced three new wheat breads that combine wholesome nutrition with the delicious taste of Wonder, the company said.

    New Wonder 100% whole wheat, honey wheat and wheat sandwich varieties are free of artificial colors, flavors and preservatives, contain 25% less sodium than traditional wheat breads and have zero grams of trans fat. The packaging for all of Wonder's new wheat varieties feature "nutritional notes" that clearly display important nutritional facts to help consumers make informed choices, Wonder said.

  • FDA approves new COPD drug

    SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a new drug made by Forest Labs for treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, the agency said.

    The FDA announced the approval of Tudorza Pressair (aclidinium bromide) for the long-term maintenance of COPD-related narrowing of the airways in the lung, also known as bronchospasm. The drug is an inhaled dry powder used twice per day.
