Do women control household purchases?
NEW YORK — A column published Friday in the Wall Street Journal questioned whether or not women actually control the purse strings in the household.
According to the column, women are attributed to making as many as 80% of all household spending decisions.
“It turns out that there isn’t much of a basis for it,” wrote WSJ columnist Carl Bialik. “I found that articles and websites that include the claim either don’t attribute the information, or if they do, the sources cited said they aren’t sure where the numbers come from.”
