MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Holoma on Monday announced it will place advanced video capabilities into the hands of consumers this holiday season as part of a Walmart exclusive.
In a first-of-its kind initiative, their website,
U4D-iT.com, utilizes advanced image recognition technology so that consumers can create fun, interactive photo cards and gifts that play a related video.
U4D-iT.com offers consumers the ability to "4D" their photos. When a photo and a related video are uploaded on the site, the 4-D technology links the two, creating a "4D photo." When the photo is scanned with the free, integrated mobile app, the video plays.
"Seeing a photo come to life like this is magical," stated Ken Haffner, CEO of Holoma. "With the readily available video and photo technology on mobile phones, we thought, why not connect the two for a truly engaging experience? And, without altering the photo in any way we can bridge the gap between still photography and video."
One feature of this interactive technology is that the photo is transformed into a 4-D photo without being altered or changed in any way. Another feature is that there's no waiting for a revised photo file or a link. The same digital photo uploaded to U4D-iT.com can be instantly uploaded in-store at the Walmart Photo kiosk, or at the online Walmart Photo Center, to use in creating scannable holiday cards and gifts.
There is no additional charge to print 4-D photos at Walmart or to use 4-D photos to create cards, invitations and an array of photo gifts, the company stated. It costs $9.96 to 4-D a photo at U4D-iT.com, and that photo can be used on as many Walmart Photo Center items as the consumer desires.
