Walgreens extends healthcare options to part-time employees

2/20/2015

CHICAGO —  GoHealth recently announced that Walgreens part-time employees across the country are able to enroll in health insurance through GoHealth’s online marketplace. While Walgreens continues to provide employer-sponsored health insurance coverage to more than 170,000 full-time employees (those working more than 30 hours per week) and their dependents, the company is collaborating with GoHealth to provide its part-time employees with support in selecting a health insurance plan. The exchange provides access to easy-to-use comparison software, free licensed insurance advisers, plan recommendations and a wide variety of health insurance options.

“Many employees are unaware that they may be eligible for financial assistance and Marketplace health insurance under the Affordable Care Act," noted Clint Jones, GoHealth CEO. "Our goal is to make sure they have the support and information they need in order to select a plan that’s right for them.”

Under the Affordable Care Act, some Walgreens part-time employees may be eligible for financial assistance to buy individual or family health insurance.  As a Web-Broker partner of the federal government, GoHealth is capable of estimating financial assistance amounts and enrolling people in subsidized health insurance directly through the GoHealth Marketplace.

“Employer health benefits are on the cusp of a major transition, and organizations are looking for solutions that give employees greater control over their health insurance decisions. Walgreens is one of many companies we’re working with who are ahead of the health insurance consumerism trend,” said Brandon Cruz, President of GoHealth.

The agreement is part of GoHealth’s strategy to extend its leading enrollment platform to the growing number of employers seeking a private health insurance exchange solution.

Walgreens part-time employees can access the GoHealth Marketplace at GoHealthInsurance.com/Walgreens.
