12/7/2020

Nutiva is adding a plant-based twist to ghee that is used to high-heat cooking.

The Richmond, Calif.-based brand is rolling out its new organic vegan ghee, which can be used by those who adhere to vegan, plant-based, dairy-free or keto diets, the company said.

“Organic culinary oils have been a staple within our portfolio since we launched our first coconut oil in 2002,” Steven Naccarato, CEO of Nutiva said. “With the launch of our new Organic Vegan Ghee, we’re extending into a new space and are looking forward to bringing a clean, plant-based alternative to the market as a swap for the beloved dairy-based culinary oil.”

Created with a blend of steam-refined coconut oil, organic avocado oil, organic vegan ghee flavor and turmeric extract, the product also contains sunflower and naturally fermented plants, the company said.

In addition, the organic vegan ghee is USDA Certified Organic, Non-GMO Project Verified, Keto Certified and Certified Vegan.

Available in a 14-oz. jar that retails for $13.99, Nutiva’s organic vegan ghee can be found at Sprouts Farmers Market, Wegmans, Thrive Market and online at Nutiva.com. It will launch at additional retailers in the coming months.
