NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. — As many as 4,500 people per week are identifying the best homeopathic medicine by symptom using Boiron's "Boiron Homeopathic Medicine Finder" app, the company reported. In only three clicks, a homeopathic medicine can be matched up with more than 360 symptoms of self-treatable conditions. Additional information on the medicine’s purpose and dosage, and other useful lifestyle tips, are provided.

The following were the most popular issues researched via the Boiron Homeopathic Medicine Finder in 2014:

  1. Restless sleep;

  2. Tobacco cravings with nausea while trying to stop smoking;

  3. Stiff joints from arthritis pain;

  4. Waking up around 3 a.m.;

  5. Sinus congestion related to allergies;

  6. Yeast infection;

  7. Profuse sweating from hot flashes;

  8. Snoring;

  9. Irritability while trying to stop smoking; and

  10. Stress or sleep problems with irritability stemming from grief, anger or vexation.

Those wishing to rely more on medicines that work naturally with the body can choose from 15 categories as a first step: allergy, children’s issues, circulatory, cold and flu, cough and throat, digestive problems, eye care, first aid/skin, joint and muscle pains, motion sickness and nausea, oral care, pain/trauma, stop smoking, stress and sleep, and women’s issues. Next, users are asked to pick a symptom. In the final step, medicine is recommended.

Launched in October 2013, a total of 100,000 people have now downloaded the app. During its start-up year, the app was ranked by Apple’s iTunes Store as a top 15 app for the iPad and a top 30 app for the iPhone, both within the category of free medical apps. The Google Play Store also ranked it as a top 25 app.

Coupons, in-store offers and help to find nearby stores also are available through the app. Protocols can be printed or shared via Facebook, Twitter or e-mail. Available for iOS, Android and Amazon Kindle devices, the app can be downloaded via the Apple iTunes App Store or Google Play.
