The Council for Responsible Nutrition on Thursday named Megan Olsen assistant general counsel, reporting to CRN president and CEO Steve Mister.

Olsen most recently held the position of special counsel for Wiley Rein in Washington, D.C. Prior to that position, she spent more than two years as senior counsel at Walgreens.

“Megan’s insight into the dietary supplement industry’s unique and complex regulatory structure makes her a great addition to the team and an excellent resource for our member companies,” Mister said. “Her broad background counseling other FDA and FTC-regulated industries and her experience at a major retailer provide an additional layer of expertise for CRN that will serve our association and all our member companies well. We’re delighted she’s joined us.”

Olsen’s experience includes advising companies on federal and state consumer protection laws surrounding the marketing, labeling and distribution of dietary supplements, food, drugs and other consumer products and services regulated by the Food and Drug Administration and the Federal Trade Commission. In addition, she has extensive knowledge assisting dietary supplement and food companies with product label review, claim substantiation compliance and marketing dissemination legal adherence. Olsen also developed client strategies for addressing National Advertising Division challenges and defending clients during investigations brought by the FDA, the FTC and state attorneys general.

Olsen started her legal career at Kelley Drye & Warren. She earned her J.D. from the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law in Washington, and received her B.A. in Business Management from Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania. While earning her J.D., Olsen held the position of associate editor for the Catholic University Law Review.
