GSK Consumer Healthcare’s ‘Tums Quartertime Show’ to debut this weekend

2/2/2017

WARREN N.J. — This year, 59% Americans won't be monitoring what they eat during The Big Game. In fact, 90% of American adults watching it will eat foods which frequently cause heartburn. That's why Tums is upping its game by helping to raise awareness of the widespread heartburn caused by everyone's favorite gameday grub by launching the first-ever Tums Quartertime Show being showcased on such social media outlets as YouTube during this year's broadcast of Super Bowl LI.

"The big game often means big heartburn," stated Stacey Harris, senior brand manager, Tums. "Nothing says heartburn more than hundreds of tacos flying around inside an even larger taco. Luckily Tums is here to provide fast heartburn relief during The Big Game so you can enjoy the foods you love."

Six YouTube stars will be taking on their biggest obstacle yet: a massive 120-foot-long "tacobstacle" course during the first-ever Tums Quartertime Show, where they'll battle it out to get their hands on extra-large Tums tablets in hopes of defeating heartburn.

Hosted by the Tums mascots — a giant Taco, Meatball and Bacon — the Tums Quartertime Show is a four minute internet broadcast that will be aired on the brand's Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pages during The Big Game and will have everything from humongous tacocycles to gigantic fighting olives to massive human burritos.

The Tums Quartertime Show will star Robby Ayala, Oscar Miranda, Darius Benson, Alonzo Lerone, Sara Hopkins and Josh Darnit.

The six stars will be split into two teams – #TEAMHEART and #TEAMBURN – and will use the items at their disposal throughout the course, including a few extra-large taco cannons that fire over three pounds of ground beef a minute, to defeat the opposing team and ultimately, heartburn. The losers will find themselves in a messy situation because they'll be covered in lukewarm nacho cheese.
