Lycelle lice removal kit makes OTC switch

SAN ANTONIO — In May, Mission Pharmacal announced that its Lycelle Head Lice Removal Kit successfully switched from prescription-only to over-the-counter, bringing a new choice to the self-care aisle to combat “super lice.”

Mission Pharmacal will support Lycelle with an aggressive, multifaceted marketing program directed first to retail and independent pharmacies, followed by a national campaign to reach school nurses and pediatricians.



Pharmacists are the healthcare professional most often asked by consumers for a head lice remedy recommendation, noted Natasha Osborne, Lycelle product manager. “Lycelle makes [treatment] convenient and easy,” she said. “The lice and their eggs are eliminated in one 10-minute use. That’s what makes us different from our other pesticide-free competitors.”
