Optimum Nutrition adds amino acids for muscle recovery

Optimum Nutrition is looking to help exercise enthusiasts in new ways.

The Downers Grove, Ill.-based company unveiled its new Essential Amin.o. Energy Plus Electrolytes. The product contains amino acids to help muscle recovery, caffeine for energy and electrolytes to replace those lost through sweat, the company said.

“Athletes love our Essential Amin.o. Energy line for a great tasting, anytime energy boost,” Trevin Morton, senior brand manager for Optimum Nutrition, said. “The addition of electrolytes, amino acids and caffeine from natural sources means Essential Amin.o. Energy Plus Electrolytes supports performance, endurance and active living.”

In addition, the product provides 100 mg of caffeine derived from such sources as green tea and green coffee bean extract. It also features 5 g of amino acids, potassium, sodium and no sugar.

Optimum Nutrition’s Amin.o. Energy Plus Electrolytes is available in a powder that comes in pineapple twist, tangerine wave, watermelon splash and cranberry lemonade breeze. It also comes packaged in a ready-to-drink 12-oz. option that features such flavors as watermelon, strawberry burst, blueberry lemonade and grape, and contains 5 to 15 calories per serving.
