Trojan kicks off year 3 of consent education campaign

EWING, N.J. — Church & Dwight’s Trojan condom brand is launching its Consent. Ask For It. campaign's third year in April, which is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The campaign, which is focused on college campuses, includes a pledge for students to take in support of a “culture of consent” that ensures consent is given before and during sexual activity.

For the initiative, the brand is partnering with sexual health education nonprofit Advocates for Youth, who helped choose a team of 100 student youth activists who will lead campus initiatives. Campus events will include giveaways and interactive visuals, as well as the campaign’s converstation starters aimed at reinforcing the importance of consent in any situation or relationship.

"It is important for us to encourage students to have conversations around consent and provide support for their consent initiatives on campus," Trojan group brand manager Stephanie Berez said. "We are proud to continue working with Advocates for Youth and their student ambassadors to further such an important conversation. We hope the students continue their amazing work from last year and, more importantly, make consent a part of everyday campus language."

Supplemental materials for the on-campus events will include consent-themed postcards, laptop stickers, tattoos and free Trojan condoms. The campaign also is supported by posters, a website and a digital pledge.

“It’s no surprise that last year's campaign really resonated with students,” Advocates for Youth president Debra Hauser said. "Honest sex education that includes information about bodily autonomy, mutual respect and consent is unfortunately rare. Yet these concepts are the cornerstones of all healthy relationships. This campaign engages students in building a culture of consent on their campuses. We are proud to stand alongside [Trojan] in this important work."
