Yoplait launches YoPlus Light

9/17/2009

MINNEAPOLIS Yoplait on Thursday announced the launch of YoPlus Light, available in three flavors — honey vanilla, strawberry banana and key lime.

Similar to YoPlus yogurts already available in supermarkets nationwide, YoPlus Light contains a special blend of probiotic cultures and a natural dietary fiber, but with 36% fewer calories. Research shows that the combination of special cultures and fiber in YoPlus helps support digestive health and can help consumers regulate their digestive health when eaten regularly, the company stated.

“Consuming probiotics regularly, like those in YoPlus Light, is a natural way to help regulate the digestive tract,” commented Tamara Schryver of the Bell Institute of Health and Nutrition. “The fiber in each cup helps to enhance the role of probiotics by offering additional digestive health benefits.”

In addition to the probiotic culture Bifidobacterium lactis Bb-12, YoPlus Light contains the live and active yogurt cultures L. bulgaricus and S. thermophilus. It is also a source of calcium, vitamin A and vitamin D, and delivers Yoplait’s signature great taste.

This September and October, YoPlus and YoPlus Light will featured as part of Yoplait’s Save Lids to Save Lives campaign to benefit breast cancer. For every pink yogurt lid mailed in by Dec. 31, Yoplait will donate $0.10 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, up to a total of $1.5 million and with a minimum guaranteed donation of $500,000.
