CHPA recognizes Bayer for aspirin campaign

11/22/2017
Bayer Aspirin has been named the recipient of the Consumer Healthcare Products Association 2017 Industry Leadership Award for Advancing Self-Care. This recognition comes from the New Jersey-based company’s “The HeroSmiths” marketing campaign, which was aimed to educate people of the life-saving benefits of aspirin during a suspected heart attack.

"Building a movement based on consumer needs and one that blends education with action is the epitome of advancing responsible self-care, and it's an honor for us to be recognized," Natalie Bartner, president of Bayer Consumer Health in North America, said. "The HeroSmiths campaign has the potential to quite literally save lives, and we're proud that Bayer aspirin can help people become heroes."

Each year the Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CPHA) awards one member in the company with the prestigious Industry Leadership Award for Advancing Responsible Self-Care, honoring the educational efforts that have created positive impact on the consumer healthcare industry.

According to a study done by the Second International Study of Infarct Survival Collaborative Group, during a suspected heart attack chewing aspirin as directed by a doctor can help increase chances of survival. The “HeroSmiths” program which launched back in Feb. 2007, brings awareness to this and carries the message of carrying aspirin everywhere in the event that someone nearby suffers from a heart attack.
