CDC posts influenza short film on YouTube.com

10/3/2008

ATLANTA The Centers for Disease Control has released a short documentary film online about families whose children have died from the flu.

“Why Flu Matters: Personal Stories of Families Who Lost Children to the Flu,” is a six-minute film directed by Emmy award winner Mustapha Khan that the CDC said was part of a grassroots effort to educate parents on the dangers of influenza.

An average of 20,000 children younger than 5 are hospitalized every year in the United States, the CDC said, and about 100 die.

The film is available at www.youtube.com/cdcflu.
