FDA approves Dr. Reddy’s generic Mavik

WASHINGTON The Food and Drug Administration approved Dr. Reddy’s trandolapril tablets in 1 mg, 2 mg and 4 mg strengths Monday, according to FDA documents.

The tablets are a generic version of Abbott’s Mavik, a hypertension drug. Mavik had sales of $49 million in 2006, according to IMS Health data.

A number of other companies already sell generic versions of the drug, including Mylan, Teva, Cipla and Cobalt.
