Leader pharmacies, P&G collaborate for Women's Health Awareness Month

5/13/2009

CINCINNATI In a new outreach effort to boost health and wellness among women, Cardinal Health’s Leader Pharmacies division and greeting card maker Kathy's Care Cards have teamed with Procter & Gamble to promote Women's Health Awareness Month in May.

The vehicle being used to reach women: free greeting cards. Through the end of the month, Leader pharmacies nationwide will offer free Kathy's Care Cards to customers upon request. Customers can then send the cards to the women in their lives, requesting them to take care of their health and encouraging them to get health screenings.

P&G is funding the card giveaway.

Based in Westerville, Ohio, Kathy's Care Cards was founded in 2004 by registered nurse Kathy Boston as a greeting card and wellness company. The firm has developed cards for people suffering from cancer, heart disease, depression, loss of a child, addictions and other life-altering events. Boston, a 25-year registered nurse, founded the company after her own unsuccessful searches for appropriate cards that conveyed what she felt her patients and friends battling cancer needed and wanted to hear. Artwork is donated from around the world.

The company's cards, which are reviewed by survivors and support groups for approval, are available at Cardinal Leader Pharmacies and online at www.KathysCareCards.com.
