Pamida speaks about health reform at first annual RxIMPACT Day

7/8/2009

OMAHA, Neb. On June 16, Pamida Pharmacy representatives Butch Bowlby, R.P., and Anthony Schmid, PharmD, attended the first annual National Association of Chain Drug Stores RxIMPACT Day on Capitol Hill to promote several key healthcare reform issues in the pharmacy industry.

RxIMPACT Day was designed to educate lawmakers and policy advisers on the important role community pharmacies can play to promote responsible and effective health reform. Such key issues as the need for fair Medicaid payments to pharmacies and the advancement and importance of medication therapy management, especially within the Medicare Part D prescription dug plan, were discussed.

“Our first trip to Capitol Hill for RxIMPACT Day was a huge success. Thanks to the NACDS, pharmacy colleagues from across the nation were able to come together to promote important pharmacy healthcare reform in order to better serve our communities," said Anthony Schmid, director of pharmacy operations for Pamida. "Because of RxIMPACT Day, we were able to educate Members of Congress on the value of community pharmacy in rural America and why key issues need to be addressed.”

Pamida is committed to the value of community pharmacy, and focuses on highlighting the concerns of the rural community members.
