Redbox expands to CVS/pharmacy

8/5/2010

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. Redbox will roll out its fully automated DVD rental kiosks at CVS/pharmacy locations nationwide, marking the first time the drug store chain will offer such a service to its customers.

The rollout will include 700 locations and will be completed by the end of 2011 and will include stores in Puerto Rico and Longs Drug locations in Hawaii, Redbox said. The announcement comes at the heels of a successful pilot program rolled out at select CVS/pharmacy locations earlier this year.

"Redbox's low nightly rate, rent and return anywhere policy and online reservations offer a terrific value and convenience to consumers while increasing traffic for our retail partners," said Mitch Lowe, president, Redbox. "We're pleased to add CVS/pharmacy stores to our list of convenient locations for movie lovers to rent films."

Redbox currently is available at approximately 23,000 convenient locations nationwide and has served millions of consumers renting more than 880 million DVDs to date.
