Walgreens Boots Alliance and VillageMD are entering the Chicago market. The companies announced the opening of the first Village Medical at Walgreens primary care practice in the Chicago area. The practice is located at 641 Meacham Road, in Elk Grove Village, Ill.
“At Village Medical, we partner with our patients to help them get well and stay well. We deliver high-quality care—the kind of care we want for ourselves, our family and friends. We call this The New Way to Well, that which partners our providers, care teams and patients together so patients can live their best life possible,” said David Hatfield, chief physician executive of Village Medical.
Village Medical at Walgreens is a primary care practice conveniently located alongside a Walgreens pharmacy location. The spacious practice includes eight exam rooms and on-site labs to offer full-service primary care, including the management of chronic conditions in addition to treating everyday illnesses and injuries. Village Medical physicians and Walgreens pharmacists collaborate closely to fill prescriptions immediately following medical visits, at the same location if patients choose, and ensure patients have access to high-quality care and medical expertise, the companies noted.

The number of people in Illinois with three or more chronic diseases is growing and expected to reach 3 million in 2030, and 45,400 lives in Illinois could be saved annually through better prevention and treatment of chronic disease, showing the need for the kind of care Village Medical at Walgreens provides, the companies noted.
“From keeping up with appointments to managing chronic conditions, new and current prescriptions and more, managing their health care can be overwhelming for patients,” said John Driscoll, executive vice president and president of U.S. Healthcare at Walgreens Boots Alliance. “With Walgreens and VillageMD’s combined expertise in pharmacy and primary care, patients have a convenient location in their community to get the right care, at the right time for positive, long-term health outcomes.”
The practice’s physicians, advanced practice providers and pharmacists are supported with high-tech tools, optimized electronic medical records and reduced administrative tasks, empowering them to focus on providing patient care and achieving positive health outcomes.
