Walgreens Boots Alliance is expanding mental health first aid training for more than 27,000 Walgreens pharmacists, and rolling out new services to meet the growing need in communities across Europe and the United Kingdom.

Walgreens Health is a business segment focused on Walgreens Boots Alliance’s capabilities in primary care, post-acute care and home care — including its investments in VillageMD and CareCentrix. 

The retailer will invest $5.2 billion in VillageMD, increasing its ownership stake in the company from 30% to 63%.

Holly May is Walgreens Boots Alliance’s new executive vice president and global chief human resources officer, and Anita Allemand is the company's new chief transformation and integration officer.

The retailer has distributed vitamins and minerals to more than 300 million women and children through its Vitamin Angels collaboration. 

The Eugene, Ore.-based company is selling its pharmacy business, including patient files and pharmacy inventory from 56 stores in Oregon, Idaho and Washington.
