Walmart elevates eyewear shopping with virtual try-on

Optical Virtual Try-On gives shoppers the ability to virtually try on different frames and purchase prescription eyewear online through its app or directly at Walmart.com.

Walmart is looking to continue to find ways to streamline the shopping process by focusing on adaptive retail. 

The company announced an increased investment in augmented reality and virtual reality technologies to better assist customers with how items will look on them virtually—specifically with eyewear.  

On its website, the retailer shared news of its Optical Virtual Try-On, which will give shoppers the ability to virtually try on different frames and purchase prescription eyewear online through its app or directly at Walmart.com.

Walmart will utilize 3D data and advanced algorithms to create a digital twin of eyewear frames, resulting in a more realistic virtual try-on experience, the company said.

We continue to focus on improving access and convenience for our customers by allowing them to shop how and where they want.
