Walmart has named Vinima Shekhar vice president of beauty at Walmart, according to an internal memo dated Tuesday, July 16, from Silvia Kawas, executive vice president of consumables, obtained by WWD, per a Yahoo Finance report. Walmart confirmed the appointment to DSN.
She succeeds Creighton Kiper, who was appointed senior vice president of home.
Shekhar began her career at Walmart in 2018 in e-commerce and has had roles in various areas of the merchandising business, most recently as vice president of wellness, where "she successfully exceeded across all key metrics including sales, profit and digital targets,” the statement said.
Prior to that, she was responsible for building a new business model and long-range strategy for Walmart’s directed spend fintech platform. She has also led the omni-holiday program for consumables, delivering record-breaking sales and sell-through across the division, per the report.
Before joining Walmart, Shekhar worked in the manufacturing sector where she led several transformational initiatives and launched her own business while living abroad.
She holds a bachelor’s in business and computer science from the College of Notre Dame and an MBA from Texas A&M.
