Beauty Product Spotlight: March 2022
A new month means Drug Store News’ beauty team has been hard at work finding several products that cater to an array of concerns.
This month, we are taking a look at skin and body care products that are loaded with AHAs and BHAs.
AHAs, or alpha-hydroxy acids, are plant and animal-derived acids that can help smooth fine lines and surface wrinkles, as well as help, improve skin texture and tone, unblock and cleanse pores and overall help improve the skin’s condition.

Products that contain AHAs work by causing exfoliation or shedding on the skin surface, and may also work in treating acne, removing scars and lightening discoloration, according to the FDA.
BHAs on the other hand, or beta hydroxy acids, can be useful in helping reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improve the skin’s overall texture without some irritation that is often associated with AHAs.
Common BHA ingredients include salicylic acid, beta hydroxy butanoic acid, tropic acid and trethocanic acid, according to the FDA.
