Dr. Sheffield’s Naturals joins the world of augmented reality

The beauty industry’s love for augmented reality continues.

This time, Dr. Sheffield’s Naturals brand is joining the growing trend by launching a new app, which is the first of its kind in the personal care category, the company said.

Available on the App Store and Google Play, the app works by having the brand’s inventor, Dr. Washington Sheffield, appear through the magic of modern day technology.

When consumers line up Dr. Sheffield’s classically bearded, aristocratic mug with a product’s outer packaging, on-shelf at retailers, he playfully lectures today’s “whippersnappers” about the benefits of life’s simple pleasure, which includes natural, fluoride-free oral care.

“We are very proud of our company's history and heritage, and we are also looking forward, innovating, and staying on the cutting edge, just as Dr. Sheffield did in his dental practice 168 years ago,” Jeffrey Davis, president and chief executive officer at Sheffield Pharmaceuticals, said. “There really is no better technology for us to blend old and new, than through Augmented Reality.”

All items are certified according to the standards of the Natural Products Association and contain no fluoride, GMOs, synthetic detergents, foaming agents, colors, flavors or sweeteners
