P&G's Jemison to retire

CINCINNATI Procter & Gamble has announced that Steven Jemison, chief legal officer, will retire in September after more than 29 years of service.

Until his retirement on Sept. 30, Jemison will serve as officer on special assignment, reporting to Bob McDonald, chairman, president and CEO.

Succeeding Jemison on Feb. 1 is Deborah Majoras, who currently is SVP and general counsel, and has been elected chief legal officer and secretary.

"Steve Jemison has been an exceptional leader and attorney throughout his career at P&G," McDonald stated. "He has distinguished himself in labor and employment law. He's demonstrated remarkable capability by leading in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa — an especially complex legal environment — and by helping to guide P&G's Beauty business through a rapid decade of growth that included numerous acquisitions and divestitures. He worked with P&G's board of directors as secretary during a period of significant external changes in governance and reporting. And he has led P&G's Global Legal organization to leave an enduring legacy. His impact at P&G is significant, and he will be remembered."
