Report: Google gets patent for 'odor-removing device'

2/18/2015

NEW YORK — Google is reportedly getting into the deodorant business and has secured a patent for a new wearable device that features advanced sensor technology, according to a DC Inno report.

The “Odor Removing Device” fits under your clothes and will tell you when you’re smelling ripe, and even how to avoid your friends so you don’t offend them with your stench, according to the report.

According to DC Inno, the abstract states that “The activity sensor can detect physical activity of a user of a device. The communication portion may provide access [to] one or more social networks via a communication network, in which the device may communicate with a social network of contacts. The route suggesting portion may provide an alternate route to travel such that the predicted odor may not offend others that are socially connected to the user and that travel the same routes as the user."

If that’s not enough, the device also shoots out a burst of fragrance to eliminate the odor and has a fan to spread it around.
