CHICAGO — IRI announced earlier this week that it has reached a long-term agreement with Southeastern Grocers to leverage analytics to better serve its existing customers and attract new shoppers. SEG is the fifth-largest supermarket chain in the United States based on store count and is the parent company of Winn-Dixie, BI-LO, Harveys and Fresco y Más grocery stores, IRI reported.
“We’re thrilled to be joining forces with Southeastern Grocers and leveraging the best tools and technology that will allow SEG and its suppliers to access industry-leading market insights that will create even better experiences for its shoppers,” stated Andrew Appel, president and CEO IRI. “Our alliance will allow Southeastern Grocers to experience unparalleled growth and enable its suppliers to drive maximum value to their consumers.”
“We’re always looking for new and innovative ways to enhance our franchise,” added Anthony Hucker, president and CEO (interim) of Southeastern Grocers. “We are eager to align our core business processes around IRI’s technology and leverage the real-time data and insights to better connect with our customers, collaborate with our suppliers and increase sales.”
SEG will use the IRI Liquid Data platform and its Unify visualization capabilities to integrate and report transaction, loyalty card, promotional and other data sources through a single platform across all of SEG’s retail formats. This web-based platform, called the SEG Collaborative Gateway, will allow SEG and its supplier partners to access flexible and fast insights for joint business planning.
In addition, IRI’s Jacksonville-based client service teams will support suppliers’ data and insight analyses, as well as SEG’s use of advanced price and promotion analytics to help further enhance marketing and merchandising activities.
