  • Diplomat closes TNH Specialty Pharmacy acquisition

    FLINT, Mich. — Diplomat Pharmacy on Thursday announced that it had completed its acquisition of Valley Campus Pharmacy, which does business as TNH Advanced Specialty Pharmacy providing individualized patient care in Van Nuys, Calif. 
     

  • Harris Teeter to open Sterling, Va. location with in-store health services

    MATTHEWS, N.C. — Harris Teeter on Thursday announced a planned grand opening for its newest location. The new store, located in Sterling Va., will be opened with an event on June 15 at 8 a.m. that will feature a ribbon cutting ceremony and in-store sampling. 
     
    The 52,000-sq. ft. store will be open 24/7 and feature a drive-thru pharmacy, as well as free blood pressure testing, private professional consultations and drug interaction and allergy screenings. 
     

  • APhA names prominent pharmacy educator president-elect for 2017-2018

    WASHINGTON - The American Pharmacists Association last week announced the election of Nicki Hilliard of Little Rock, Ark., as 2017–2018 APhA president-elect. Hilliard will succeed Nancy Alvarez of Lake Forest, Calif., to the office of APhA president on March 19, 2018, at the end of the 2018 APhA Annual Meeting & Exposition in Nashville, Tenn.

    Also elected to serve three-year terms on APhA’s board of trustees are Sandra Leal of Tucson, Ariz., and Randy McDonough, of Iowa City, Iowa. Both terms will begin in March 2017.

    ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The National Community Pharmacists Association recently completed its 2016 Congressional Pharmacy Summit, which took place May 24 and 25 just outside Washington, D.C. and drew more than 300 independent community pharmacists. 
     

  • Diplomat kicks off third annual internship, fellowship programs

    FLINT, Mich. — Diplomat Pharmacy on Tuesday began the third year of  its 12-week summer fellowship and internship programs. The full-time programs provide fellows and interns housing in downtown Flint during the summer of immersion aimed at giving participants hands-on experience, community introductions and alumni connections.

    WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — Benzer Pharmacy announced Thursday that it had opened its newest location here at 700 1st St. South. The opening is the result of Benzer’s acquisition of Reliance Pharmacy and it marks the seventh new Benzer location this year. 
     

  • PrescribeWellness expands pharmacy practice innovation team with new hire

    IRVINE, Calif. — PrescribeWellness on Tuesday announced a new addition to its pharmacy practice innovation team as it advances its delivery of clinical services to its national pharmacy network. Farah Madhat will be the company’s new director of clinical services, joining the company from OptumRx, where she directed that company’s pharmacy reimbursement/pharmacy audit division.
