  • CRN CEO named to U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Association Committee of 100

    WASHINGTON — Steve Mister, president and CEO of the Council for Responsible Nutrition, has been named to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Association Committee of 100 (C100). For more than 50 years, leading association executives have gathered under the banner of the U.S. Chamber’s C100 to network, build partnerships, discuss current issues and represent the association community before the U.S. Chamber’s Board of Directors.

  • GPhA urges passage of 21st Century Cures Act as it heads to House

    WASHINGTON — The 21st Century Cures Act, which includes provisions to fund the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act that would work to address the public health crisis around prescription drug abuse, is likely headed to a vote this week, and the Generic Pharmaceutical Association is calling for its passage. 
     
  • NRF supports injunction blocking new overtime rule

    A federal judge in Texas issued a preliminary injunction blocking an Obama administration rule that would have allowed more employees to qualify for overtime pay by raising the salary limit to $47,476 from $23,660. The new regulations were set to take effect on Dec. 1.
     
    The Labor Department said it “strongly disagreed” with the decision and was “considering all of our legal options.” 
          
  • Visa Modifies EMV Debit Routing Rules

    SAN FRANCISCO — In an effort to help merchants better understand implementation options related to the adoption of Europay, MasterCard and Visa (EMV) chip technology in the U.S., Visa has modified and clarified existing debit network routing rules. These changes come following new guidance issued from the Federal Reserve and address a Federal Trade Commission inquiry.

  • FDA primes industry for GDUFA II fee structure changes

    In the nearly five years since the Generic Drug User Fee Agreement was enacted under the Food and Drug Administration Safety and Innovation Act of 2012, through the FDA’s Office of Generic Drug, GDUFA has generated some $1.5 billion in user fees and has seen 1,992 approvals issued.

  • Kimberly-Clark president North American Consumer Products promoted to president and COO

    DALLAS  —  Kimberly-Clark on Wednesday named Michael Hsu, currently group president North American Consumer Products, to the role of president and COO and will join K-C's board of directors, effective Jan. 1, 2017.

    The appointment of Hsu as president and COO is part of a long-term executive leadership development and succession planning process. Thomas Falk will remain CEO and chairman of the board and continue to lead and manage K-C at the enterprise level.

  • Report: Trump’s hints at FDA reform could bode well for pharma industry

    The Washington Post is reporting that President-elect Donald Trump’s transition website may be hinting to drug and medical device makers that under his administration, it might be easier to get their treatments to patients. The transition site promises that as president, Trump will “reform the Food and Drug Administration to put greater focus on the need of patients for new and innovative medical products.”
