  • CVS Caremark's Pharmacy Advisor program receives accreditation

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark announced on Thursday that its Pharmacy Advisor Counseling program has been awarded Health Call Center accreditation from URAC, a Washington, D.C.-based health care accrediting organization that establishes quality standards for the healthcare industry.

    This represents the first time that CVS Caremark has received the Health Call Center accreditation and the second accreditation that the Pharmacy Advisor Counseling program has received this year.

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark posted “solid” results during its third quarter, and its MinuteClinic business was no exception.

    During the quarter ended Sept. 30, the retail clinic business enjoyed revenue growth of 18%.

    From a comp perspective, MinuteClinic has, most recently, been comping in the teens to low 20s, Dave Denton, EVP, CFO, controller and chief accounting officer, told analysts during the company’s third-quarter conference call Tuesday morning.

  • Drug take-back programs draw praise

    WASHINGTON — The last six drug take-back days sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Agency have collected nearly 2.8 million pounds of prescription drugs at more than 5,800 sites across the country, drawing praise from a drug industry trade organization.

    The Generic Pharmaceutical Association said it "strongly supports" the DEA's efforts, including the seventh annual National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, which took place Saturday.

  • CVS Caremark launches national medication disposal program

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — In recognition of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day being held Oct. 26, CVS/pharmacy has launched the CVS/pharmacy Medication Disposal for Safer Communities Program.

    The new program is designed to provide police departments across the country with an easy way to team up with CVS/pharmacy locations in their area to hold National Drug Take Back Day events or to help raise community awareness of local drug disposal programs managed by law enforcement.
