  • CVS Caremark announces expiration of tender offer

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark has announced the expiration and final results of its previously announced tender offer for any and all of its $1 billion outstanding 6.302% enhanced capital advantaged preferred securities.

    The tender offer commenced on Nov. 29 and expired on Dec. 7.  Based on the final tabulation provided by the information agent for the tender offer, D.F. King & Co., holders of the notes tendered $957.7 million aggregate principal amount of the notes on or prior to the expiration date.

  • Cardinal Health ranks No. 1 on Gartner's 'Healthcare Supply Chain Top 25'

    STAMFORD, Conn. — Gartner on Monday released the findings from its third annual "Healthcare Supply Chain Top 25," ranking Cardinal Health No. 1. The top 25 ranking for 2011 identifies organizations using their supply chains to improve the patient care experience.
     
    "Value chain leadership in a range of foundational and collaborative capabilities has allowed these organizations to make great strides in enabling high-quality patient care at optimal economic cost," stated Barry Blake, research analyst at Gartner.
     

  • CVS Caremark's Jim Trappani steps down

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark has confirmed that Jim Trappani, VP merchandising for health care and multicultural, has decided to leave the company.
     
    Grant Pill has assumed the role of VP merchandising for over-the-counter healthcare and store brands.
     
    In addition, Mike McEnany has been promoted to VP merchandising, consumables and multicultural. His most recent role was divisional merchandising manager for consumables.

    When someone says “pharmacy automation and technology,” the image that most likely springs to mind is a pharmacy robot dispensing pills in a bottle or pharmacists managing operations or looking at patients’ medical records and electronic prescriptions with the latest pharmacy software.

  • Study: National dollar store chain locations outnumber those of national retail pharmacy chains

    SEATTLE — The combined store count of the county's largest dollar store chains outnumbers that of the largest retail pharmacy chains as continued economic difficulties drive the channel's growth, according to a new study released Monday by Colliers International.
