Sales for Dollar Tree’s second quarter, which ended Aug. 3, came in toward the low end of its outlook range.

Dollar Tree plans on closing approximately 600 Family Dollar stores in the first half of fiscal 2024, with more to close over the next several years.

Discount and dollar store chains performed remarkably well in H1 2023, and the strength has mostly continued into the second half of the year as many of the chains expanded their footprints, per Placer.ai.

The app is aimed at helping shoppers manage coupons using the redesigned wallet feature.

As of January 2023, visits to discount and dollar stores were up 19.4% compared to January 2020.

Instacart’s same-day delivery in as quickly as one hour is now available at 7,000 Dollar Tree and Family Dollar stores.

Dollar Tree reported net sales increased by 7.5% to $6.177 billion and same-store sales increased by 5.1%, as well as plans to renovate approximately 1,250 Family Dollar stores in 2021.

Dollar Tree announced plans to close Family Dollar’s store support centers in North Carolina and Virginia, which are to be relocated to its newly-completed office tower in Virginia.
