Hourglass, Barneys New York launch limited-time shopping experience

To kick off New York Fashion Week, Hourglass and Barneys are opening a limited-time store that will feature a diverse group of fashion and beauty brands.

Beauty brand Hourglass is paying homage to where it first got its start—Barneys New York—by holding a curated concept store. 

To kick off New York Fashion Week, the cosmetics company and retailer are opening a pop-up that will feature a diverse group of fashion and beauty brands and include collaborative products, weekly events and guest appearances. 

“Hourglass got its start at Barneys 20 years ago, as our very first retailer, catapulting our brand into culture,” said Carisa Janes, founder and president of Hourglass. “It was the launch pad and champion for young designers, a place for discovery and creativity. As we celebrate 20 incredible years of business, we want to honor the spirit of Barneys and pay it forward for today’s designers through this unique pop-up experience and our partnership with the CFDA.”

Julie Gilhart, the former fashion director of Barneys, worked with Hourglass to hand-select designers with a unique view of the shopping experience.

The collections will feature drops from established and emerging designers including 3.1 Phillip Lim, Agbobly, Altuzarra, anOnlyChild, AREA, Aubero, BATSHEVA, Christopher John Rogers, Colleen Allen, Collina Strada, Diotima, Eckhaus Latta, Elena Velez, Ella Emhoff, Frame, Gigi Burris, HEAD OF STATE, Hervé Léger and much more.

At the center of the store is the Hourglass beauty bar, featuring two limited-edition, collaborative Barneys products—the Ambient Lighting Palette and an exclusive Unlocked Satin Crème Lipstick Duo—with special-edition packaging designed by Barneys Book illustrator, Na Kim.

In honor of Hourglass’s 20th Anniversary, the brand is introducing a small batch, limited-edition fragrance named, XX, to commemorate the last two decades. Hand-numbered from 1 to 1,500, the fresh, green scent is a light fragrance with notes of honeysuckle, orange blossom and sandalwood, the companies shared.

"I hope that guests will be captivated by the design, interesting installations and creative merchandising of the products. Most of all, I hope that they will enjoy discovering new talent as they did with the legendary Barneys New York store.”
