Hum Nutrition’s Private Party focuses on vaginal, urinary tract health

By David Salazar - 02/14/2020

Wellness brand Hum Nutrition is expanding its line of supplements with Private Party. The supplement capsule contains antioxidants from cranberry extract and three probiotic strains to support vaginal and urinary tract health.

The company said the Private Party launch is part of its recent efforts meant to highlight women’s health and change the conversation around it.

“Vaginal health is often a topic that is not discussed and yet so many women are impacted by an imbalance in their vaginal microbiome,” said Hum director of education Sarah Greenfield, who also is a registered dietitian. “Compelled by strong clinical research we felt obliged to create a formula that positively impacts vaginal bacterial balance and urinary tract health. And, in doing so, hopefully, ignites conversations around vaginal health.”

The clinical research Greenfield referred to are studies that have found 36 mg of the antioxidant found in cranberry extract, proanthocyanidins, or PACs, is effective in supporting urinary tract health. The supplement combines PACs with vaginal probiotic strains the company said were selected to balance yeast and maintain healthy pH.

"A healthy vaginal pH is naturally acidic thanks to a delicate balance of yeast and bacteria called the microbiome,” said Alyssa Dweck, a New York-based gynecologist. “Hormonal shifts, hygiene products, antibiotics and even sex can disrupt this natural ecosystem and cause uncomfortable symptoms and infection. I am so pleased that HUM Nutrition now offers a novel and well researched probiotic with thoughtfully chosen lactobacilli and cranberry PACs to help maintain the vaginal environment.”

Private Party is available in 30-count bottles of vegan, vegetarian, non-GMO and gluten-free capsules. The supplement currently sells on the Hum Nutrition website for $25.
