Luxie commits to providing vegan, cruelty-free beauty tools

Since its inception, Luxie has taken a do no harm to the Earth and its creatures, approach when it comes to crafting its makeup brushes and beauty tools.

“Luxie was proudly vegan and cruelty-free before it was cool,” Luxie CEO Conor Riley said. “We are working every day to further reduce and refine our footprint. For example, we partnered with the World Wildlife Fund to help protect our oceans and have begun experimenting with synthetic fibers made from renewable resources like bamboo, coffee, and cornstarch.”

Each of its brushes is handmade, with handles sourced from tree farms in Southeast Asia.

Materials used for its products are documented from farm to factory, all elements grown are according to the best sustainable practices, the Campbell, Calif.-based company said.

On each of its brushes, there’s a metal ring that has been crafted from an array of metals chosen for their specific purposes, and are forged and pressed by hand before undergoing a finishing process reliant on equipment that ensures the metal will stand up to daily wear and tear.

Bristles on its brushes are made without the use of animal fibers and they do not contain fibers that have been tested on animals either, the company said.

Instead, the bristles are constructed from a man-made polymer that has been engineered in Europe and is free of PBBs, PBDEs and other harmful chemicals.

Luxie brushes look to help users move product smoothly and evenly over the skin for easy blending, and they do not shed either, the company said.

Beauty enthusiasts can find Luxie’s tools online, and at such retailers as Anthropologie, Macy’s, Nordstrom and Revolve.
