  • Bayer HealthCare launches new flea and tick treatments

    ORLANDO, Fla. — Bayer HealthCare LLC Animal Health division on Wednesday launched eight flea and tick treatments and control solutions, which are to be sold at pet specialty retail stores. The announcement was made at Global Pet Expo, the pet industry's largest annual trade show.

    Four of the new products — Advantage Treatment Spray for dogs, Advantage Treatment Spray for cats, Advantage Treatment Shampoo for dogs and Advantage Treatment Shampoo for cats — aim to give pet owners an array of options for pest treatment.

  • Perrigo launches methazolamide tablets

    DUBLIN — Perrigo announced the launch of methazolamide tablets, the generic version of Neptazane tablets. The product is a component of the rights the company received in connection with its acquisition of a portfolio of ophthalmic products from Fera Pharmaceuticals and its affiliates last year.

  • Study: Pharmaceutical companies prioritizing healthcare IT investments

    PARSIPPANY, N.J. — Three-in-four pharmaceutical companies are looking to derive greater value from the influx of healthcare information that includes anonymized electronic medical records and other real-world data, according to a report issued by the IMS Institute for Healthcare Informatics on Wednesday. New investments in a range of commercial operations applications — such as customer relationship management, social media or integrated multi-channel marketing solutions — were cited by more than 70% of respondents as a priority.

  • FDA approves Upsher-Smith's Qudexy XR extended-release capsules

    MAPLE GROVE, Minn. — Upsher-Smith has received approval from the Food and Drug Administration for Qudexy XR (topiramate) extended-release capsules, a once-daily, broad-spectrum antiepileptic drug specifically engineered to deliver a smooth pharmacokinetic profile.

    Qudexy XR will be available to patients in second quarter 2014.

    EMERYVILLE, Calif. — Clif Kid, a maker of organic snacks for kids, has announced the nationwide availability of the newest addition to the Clif Kid Zbar line — Zbar Protein.

    A snack made with organic whole grains, Zbar Protein is designed to be a good source of complete protein.

  • Prasco begins distribution of doxercalciferol capsules

    CINCINNATI — Prasco Laboratories announced on Tuesday that it has started shipping the generic version of Hectorol (doxercalciferol) 0.5-, 1.0- and 2.5-mcg capsules, each in 50-count bottles under the Prasco label.

    Prasco entered into a distribution and supply agreement with Genzyme, a Sanofi company, for doxercalciferol capsules, the generic version of Hectorol 0.5-, 1.0- and 2.5-mcg capsules.
     

  • Zipnosis partners with the University of Alabama at Birmingham Health System

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. and MINNEAPOLIS — Zipnosis, a virtual care service that provides online diagnosis and treatment for common medical conditions, has partnered with the University of Alabama at Birmingham Health System to begin offering online diagnosis and treatment.

    The academic medical center will begin using Zipnosis’ virtual care service this summer. The partnership with UAB marks Zipnosis’ first major step toward national expansion.
