    CROMWELL, Conn. — i-Health on Monday released an adult-strength chewable version of their probiotic brand — Culturelle Digestive Health Probiotic Chewables. According to i-Health, the new tablet allows easier daily probiotic consumption for the large number of adults who experience difficulty swallowing pills.

  • FDA approves first new morning sickness pill in 30 years

    ROSEMONT, Pa. — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a drug for treating nausea and vomiting during pregnancy.

    Drug maker Duchesnay USA said the FDA approved Diclegis (doxylamine succinate and pyridoxine hydrochloride) delayed-release tablets in the 10 mg/10 mg strength for NVP, more commonly known as morning sickness, in women who don't respond to conservative treatment. NVP is estimated to affect 70-85% of pregnant women, and symptoms range from nausea to severe vomiting and retching that can last throughout the day.

    GLENVIEW, Ill. — Philadelphia Cream Cheese is looking to broaden its appeal with the launch of new cream cheese products this spring.

    Spicy Jalapeno is the newest flavor of cream cheese spread from the Philadelphia company. This new cream cheese flavor is made with real jalapenos and adds a hint of heat to a bagel, sandwiches, flatbreads and dips.

  • Patients taking AstraZeneca RA drug show partial improvement

    NEW YORK — An experimental drug developed by AstraZeneca for rheumatoid arthritis produced mixed results in measurements of patients' conditions, according to results of a late-stage clinical trial.

    AstraZeneca announced initial results of the phase-3 "OSKIRA-1" trial of fostamatinib, which it calls the first oral spleen tyrosine kinase inhibitor in development for RA.

  • Teva introduces generic painkiller

    NORTH WALES, Pa. — Teva Pharmaceutical Industries has launched a generic opioid medication for treating pain, the company said.

    Teva announced the introduction of oxymorphone hydrochloride tablets.

    The drug is a generic version of Endo Pharmaceuticals' Opana and will be available in the 5 mg and 10 mg strengths in bottles of 100 tablets.

    CINCINNATI — Procter & Gamble has introduced a new lineup of scented bar soaps to its collection of male grooming products. Arriving in stores this month, new Old Spice bar soap is available in the Fiji, Pure Sport and Swagger scents.

  • Goya Foods, Beech-Nut Nutrition to make baby food for Hispanic families

    AMSTERDAM, N.Y. — Beech-Nut Nutrition and Goya Foods have made a deal to produce baby foods for Hispanic families, Beech-Nut announced.

    "One-fourth of all births in America today are to Hispanics, so that any company hoping to grow their business must take their needs and tastes into account," Beech-Nut president Jeff Boutelle said.
