  • Mission Pharmacal launches Binosto for osteoporosis

    SAN ANTONIO — Mission Pharmacal has launched what it called an alternative to pill therapy for osteoporosis.

    The drug maker announced Thursday the availability of Binosto (alendronate sodium) effervescent tablets for buffered oral solution in pharmacies. The drug is used to treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and increase bone mass in men with the condition.

    ATLANTA — Hair accessories brand Goody is gearing up for the holidays with its Luxe line of hair accessories, which will feature new styles and designs for the holidays.

    The Luxe collection is comprised of four styles: Vine, Deco, Antique and Starburst.  They range from classic to modern and capture the crisp, sleek lines of art deco, the charm and romance of vintage jewels, the whimsy and light of the constellations and the flourishing expressions of vines and blooms.

    The collection features the StayPut Hold technology to create a lasting hold.

  • Kinn introduces products for administering pet meds

    ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — Anyone with pets knows that the challenge of getting them to swallow pills is up there with giving them baths.

    One company has introduced a line of products designed to make the process easier. Kinn announced the launch of Kudose, which allows pills to be hidden inside homemade treats, and Krocodile, a pill splitter and crusher.

  • Red Bull Editions to enter market in 2013

    LAS VEGAS — Red Bull will introduce a new line of energy drinks this coming March.

    The Red Bull Editions, which provide the same functional benefits of the original, come in cranberry, lime and blueberry flavors and are packaged in red, silver and blue cans, respectively. The new beverages were showcased at the National Association of Convenience Stores conference this month in Las Vegas.

    Red Bull Editions will be available nationwide in single 8.4.-oz. single cans and 8.4-oz. four-packs.

  • AccuDial launches line of Go-Green children's cough and cold products

    PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — AccuDial Pharmaceutical recently launched four products as part of its Go-Green pediatric liquid cough-cold lineup that features dosing information on a rotating label, a larger 6-point font and a dosing cup that's shrink-wrapped to the top of the container.

  • FDA approves generic cardiovascular drug

    MORRISTOWN, N.J. — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a generic drug for treating blood pressure and chest pain.

    Actavis announced Wednesday the approval of diltiazem hydrochloride extended-release capsules.

    The drug is a generic version of Valeant's Tiazac. The branded drug and its generic equivalents had sales of about $76.3 million in 2011, according to IMS Health.

  • Combos takes seven-layer dip to new level

    HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. — Combos is slated to launch its newest snack.

    Combos 7 Layer Dip Tortilla combines real cheddar cheese, sour cream, avocado, tomato, refried beans, onion and spicy jalapeño peppers, parent company Mars said. As part of the upcoming launch, the new Combos treat will be supported by a campaign that will include national print advertising, digital media, promotional radio, social media, a "7 Layer Party" public relations campaign, a Six Flags sponsorship with in-park media and in-store consumer promotions.
