  • PepsiCo, Theo Muller Group form joint venture, enter U.S. dairy market

    PURCHASE, N.Y. — PepsiCo has established a joint venture with a privately held, Germany-based dairy business, through which the companies will enter the growing U.S. dairy market in mid-July with innovative premium yogurt products.

    PepsiCo and Theo Muller Group said their joint venture, Muller Quaker Dairy, will launch the following yogurts:

  • Orly gears up for BTS season with new nail color collection

    NEW YORK — Orly has unveiled Electronica, its new back-to-school nail color collection.

    Inspired by the unique blend of nature and the machine, the result is high-tech style. The collection is available for $8.50 each on Orlybeauty.com, Sallybeauty.com and at Ulta Beauty stores.
     
    The four lacquers in the Electronica collection include:

    • Preamp: Light purple shimmer;

    • Shockwave: Royal blue crème;

    • Decoded: Grey crème; and

  • Katy Perry by Eylure collection features two new lash styles for 2012

    LOS ANGELES — Pop star Katy Perry has designed two new eyelash styles to accompany her collection with beauty company Eylure.

    Hand-picked personally by Perry, the new styles join the Katy Perry by Eylure collection. The Pretty and Darling designs are self-adhesive, allowing for instant application, and can be reapplied for multiple wears. These are perfect lashes for first-time wearers and will encourage those interested in lashes, but who are unsure about look or application.

  • Yakult Light to enter market

    TORRANCE, Calif. — Yakult USA is introducing a probiotic drink to the U.S. market.

    Yakult Light, which has nearly two-thirds less sugar and one-third fewer calories than regular Yakult, contains active probiotic bacteria called Lactobacillus casei strain Shirota. The product also is made with natural sweeteners and natural flavors, and is free of preservatives, gluten and high-fructose corn syrup. Unlike regular Yakult products, Yakult Light will tout blue and white packaging, with the red Yakult logo.

  • Cool Off personal cooling towelette makes retail debut

    SAN ANTONIO — A personal cooling towelette has entered the market.

    Cool Off is designed to reduce surface skin temperatures 12 degrees and will maintain that lower temperature for approximately one hour, the company said. The towelettes, which are pocket-sized, are infused with 17 different cooling and therapeutic herbs, botanicals and essential oils.

    Cool Off is available at such retailers as Duane Reade and H-E-B, as well as online at Amazon.com, CVS.com and Drugstore.com.

  • FDA approves generic version of Lyrica

    BALTIMORE — The Food and Drug Administration has approved Lupin Pharmaceuticals' generic version of a drug used to treat pain and seizure disorders.

    Lupin announced the approval of pregabalin capsules in the 25-mg, 50-mg, 75-mg, 100-mg, 150-mg, 200-mg, 225-mg and 300-mg strengths. The drug is used to treat fibromyalgia, partial-onset seizures in adults, neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy and post-herpetic neuralgia.

  • Lay's Kettle Cooked adds new flavors to mix

    PLANO, Texas — Lay's is expanding its Kettle Cooked line with two new flavors.

    Lay's Kettle Cooked applewood smoked BBQ and Lay's Kettle Cooked sun-dried tomato and parmesan chips are 40% less fat than regular potato chips, Lay's saod.
