International probiotic association to sponsor documentary sequel on probiotics

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Health Point Productions on Monday announced the second part of a three-part documentary on probiotics will be going into production. 

"My goal for the film is that it will not only be entertaining and interesting, but it will highlight some of the latest scientific research in probiotics from around the world," stated executive producer David Knight. "In order to help achieve this goal I'm thrilled that the International Scientific Association for Probiotics and Prebiotics has agreed to become a major sponsor for Microwarriors 2. We strongly support ISAPP, which is an international, non-profit organization committed to the idea that all probiotic and prebiotic products should be scientifically substantiated and responsibly marketed."

"The film is well-aligned with our mission to promote the science behind probiotics and prebiotics, and ISAPP is excited about the opportunity to bring its renowned scientific expertise in the areas of probiotics, prebiotics, and human microbiota to the film," commented Mary Ellen Sanders, executive director ISAPP.

"Microwarriors: The Origin and the Destiny" will feature an "all-star" line-up of internationally renowned scientists headed by Gregor Reid, professor of microbiology and surgery, University of Western Ontario and chair of Human Microbiology and Probiotics, Lawson Health Research Institute in Canada; Mary Ellen Sanders, executive director of ISAPP and consultant for Dairy and Food Technologies in Colorado; Glenn Gibson, professor of Food Microbiology, University of Reading in the U.K.; Jeremy Nicholson, head of the Department of Surgery and Cancer at Imperial College London in the U.K.; Eamonn Quigley, professor of medicine and human physiology, Alimentary Pharmabiotic Centre, University College Cork in Ireland; Willem de Vos of the University of Wageningen in the Netherlands and University of Helsinki in Finland); Sven Pettersson, professor at the Karolinska Hospital in Sweden); Fredrik Bäckhed, professor, University of Gothenburg in Sweden; and Wendy Garrett assistant professor, Harvard Medical School in Massachusetts.
