Optimum Nutrition’s Essential Amin.O Energy Plus Electrolytes gets Costco launch
Optimum Nutrition is bringing its latest ready-to-drink product to Costco. The Downer’s Grove, Ill.-based company has launched Essential Amino Energy Plus Electrolytes, a sparkling drink meant to aid in hydration that contains amino acids and natural caffeine, at the club retailer.
"We recognize that today's active adults are looking for convenience," said Sarah Teeter, director of brand marketing for Optimum Nutrition. “ON has innovated to create grab-and-go products that fit into a busy lifestyle, and we're expanding our distribution to make it easier than ever to access high-quality performance nutrition products as part of an everyday routine.”
Costco now is selling a 16-pack of 12-oz Essential Amin.O Energy Plus Electrolytes cans. Each serving contains 100 mg of caffeine the company said is derived from green tea and green coffee bean extract, 5 g of amino acids and such electrolytes as potassium and sodium. The product is sugar-free.
"Essential Amin.O Energy Plus Electrolytes sparkling hydration drink is perfect for pre- or post-workout energy and hydration, or anytime you need an energy boost," Teeter said. "It delivers amino acids, caffeine and electrolytes and is a delicious, fizzy alternative to high-sugar sports drinks.”
Though the product was introduced last year, this marks its first distribution outside of the sports nutrition channel and online sales.
