  • Walmart delves deeper into e-commerce with tech incubator launch

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. — The nation’s largest retailer is delving deeper into e-commerce and evolving technology with its newest investment.
     
    Walmart has formed Store No. 8, a technology incubator that will be based in the Silicon Valley. (The new initiative is named after an early Walmart store that company founder Sam Walton used to try out new retail strategies.)
     
  • Survey: Americans prefer pharmacy over physician when it comes to vaccines

    IRVINE, Calif. — The majority of Americans prefer visiting their local pharmacy to get their inoculations, as opposed to visiting the doctor's office, according to  the PrescribeWellness 2017 Vaccination and Preventive Care Survey.

    Of the 62% of survey respondents who chose pharmacy over practitioner, most of the reasons hinged upon convenience.

  • Rite Aid enters 23rd year raising funds for Children's Miracle Network

    CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid on Monday announced the launch of its annual Miracle Balloon campaign in support of local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals during the company’s annual Miracle Balloon campaign. Rite Aid customers will be encouraged to support their local children’s hospital by purchasing $1 paper Miracle Balloon and in return, customers will receive $7 in coupon offers for select products sold at Rite Aid.

  • Kroger vet joins Target to lead grocery business

    A 30-year veteran of Kroger has joined Target to head up the discounter’s struggling grocery business. 
     

  • Former Rite Aid COO named to top post at QuickChek

    WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. — QuickChek announced John Schaninger, VP of sales and marketing, left the company and has been replaced by former Rite Aid COO Rob Easley.

    Schaninger served QuickChek, operator of 10 pharmacy locations, for 38 years. He left to pursue other interests.

    "John has played a vital role in the growth of QuickChek," said QuickChek CEO Dean Durling. "He felt the time was right to pursue other opportunities. We thank him for his many years of service and all the contributions he has made."

  • Kroger names new president for Fred Meyer Stores

    CINCINNATI — Kroger on Monday named Joe Grieshaber the president of Fred Meyer Stores, replacing Jeff Burt, who resigned from the company. Target on Monday announced Burt would be joining its ranks to lead its grocery business, effective April 10. Previous to his new post, Grieshaber has been serving as president of Kroger's Columbus division.

  • Northeast Ohio Medical University pioneers Transitions in Care with Ritzman Pharmacy

    ROOTSTOWN, OHIO – The College of Pharmacy at Northeast Ohio Medical University on Friday launched the College’s first Transitions in Care program through its affiliate, Pharmacy Innovations, and in partnership with Ritzman Pharmacy at NEOMED and Summa Rehab Hospital.
