  • Rite Aid, Intesource renew e-sourcing partnership

    PHOENIX — Rite Aid is renewing its contract with e-sourcing firm Intesource, the Phoenix-based e-sourcing company said Tuesday.

    Rite Aid's contract with Intesource dates back to 2009, and the Camp Hill, Pa.-based chain has used it to tackle complex and strategic categories, ranging from print advertising to snow plowing services. E-sourcing refers to using an online portal to attract bids from suppliers of products and services.

  • Rite Aid comps increase 1.9% in September

    CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid's same-store sales increased last month despite being offset by slightly lower front-end same-store sales and new generic drug introductions, the retail pharmacy chain said Thursday.

    During the four-week period that ended Saturday, same-store sales increased 1.9% compared with September 2012. The increase included a 0.5% decrease in front-end comps and a 3.1% increase in pharmacy comps, offset by 1% due to new generics. Same-store prescription count increased by 0.9%.

  • Rite Aid offers new Medicare Part D plan with Symphonix

    CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid will help elderly people and their caregivers prepare for the annual Medicare Part D enrollment starting in two weeks, the drug store chain said Tuesday.

    Rite Aid said its stores around the country would offer Medicare Advisor to help Medicare beneficiaries and caregivers find the plan that suits them best starting on Oct. 15.

  • WellPoint launches preferred pharmacy network for Medicare

    INDIANAPOLIS — Health insurer WellPoint said Tuesday that most of its affiliated Medicare drug plans and medical plans with drug coverage will participate in a preferred pharmacy network that includes Rite Aid, Kroger and Walmart pharmacies.

    Together, WellPoint said, members had access to more than 11,000 locations around the country. The preferred pharmacy network is part of all of WellPoint's affiliated Part D standalone prescription drug plans and most of its Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plans.
